Inclusive Emergency Response

Flood Relief 2022: Reaching the Forgotten

In the devastating floods of 2022, Tamir Welfare Organization mobilized swiftly across Jhang and Faisalabad. With the backing of trusted international and regional partners, our team delivered food, hygiene kits, and emergency support to over 300 vulnerable households, including families with disabled and elderly members.

This emergency relief operation demonstrated the power of coordinated response and community trust. Supported by allied networks, we ensured rapid implementation, localized decision-making, and full accountability to our stakeholders.

Building Capacity, Saving Lives: Our 2025 Vision

Despite past successes, most local NGOs and responders in Pakistan still lack the training to protect people with disabilities or older adults during emergencies. Tamir is stepping up to bridge that gap.

What We’re Doing:

  • – Launching regional training seminars in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to empower 100+ NGOs and humanitarian actors
  • – Developing disability-inclusive emergency response manuals and simulation exercises
  • – Promoting coordination between local responders, municipal agencies, and disability rights groups
  • – Leveraging past experience with RI Asia Pacific and long-standing partnerships in the humanitarian and health sectors

Who We’re Working With:

        • – RI Asia Pacific (strategic guidance)
        • – Omniya Trust UK & APNA NHS Foundation (collaborative partners)
        • – Pakistan’s social welfare departments and grassroots disability networks
        • – World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB) – www.wfdb.eu, a global DPO led by persons with deafblindness, engaged in UN advocacy, accessible policy development, and inclusive disaster planning
        • – Leonard Cheshire Disability Alliance (Global member through the Canada-based secretariat, with ongoing alignment on inclusive development goals)
