Today, on the 19th of February' 2002, I participate in the Inaugural function of TAMIR CHESHIRE SERVICES. Its objective is to launch a vigorous campaign against disability especially that of children under 12 years of age. The organization deserves any cordial facilitation. It is an organization which is non political, non religious and purely a welfare organization. With its assistance and cooperation of other Agencies and Govt. departments, I hope it would endeavor to accomplish its objectives. I pray for its success from the bottom of my heart.

We organized an Eye Camp with TAMIR CHESHIRE SERVICES. All the staff members co-operated with us at their best. We were really surprised to find that there were many patients who had very limited resources. And these patients also need better treatment. We are ready to work again with this organization.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Greetings. Thank you very much for the wonderful reception. It is great honour and pleasure for me that I am back in my ancestral city and got the opportunity to visit Tamir Welfare Organization-Leonard Cheshire. It is true that my one of my ancestors Sir James Lyall who was the Governor of Punjab founded the Lyallpur city. Although the name of city has been changed afterward, but the name of Lyallpur is still alive in my heart. Twenty 20 years back when I was working at British Embassy in Pakistan, i was very fluent in Urdu speaking. Unfortunately it has been weakened, now days. I would like to express my views in English, if you allow me.
It is a real pleasure for me to be here and I have been enormously impressed by the work that has been done here by the Tamir Welfare Organization. It is very easy to forget the disabled, particularly in the developing world. And what you have shown here is that, with the wide community support and wide skill training that you can reintegrate into society and hold fulfilling and full life. And this is what which transcends all cultures and religions. And it is really Allah's-work that you are doing here. So I am delighted that the British Government has been able to associate itself through the Leonard Cheshire International with the work that has been done here. And I am very glad to be associated not only with the city but also with the work that has been done here.
